Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!  We had such a wonderful day today - we hope you did too!  We started off the day searching for eggs and the goodies that the Easer Bunny left at our house.

That Easter Bunny is pretty sneaky!  He hides eggs all over the place!
" Reese's Pieces!  I love these in the whole world Mom!"
The Easter Bunny enlisted Teddy's help...holding onto a baseball glove for Owen
"I'm going to be a baseball guy!"

After we found all of the eggs, we headed to mass.  Unfortunately, someone became ill in church and as we were leaving, an ambulance was parked right by the door.  Owen was enthralled by it!  He wanted to follow it, but we explained that the person inside was sick, so the ambulance was taking them to the hospital.  He said, "Awww, that's not good.  We can make them a card to make them feel better.  I'll color it green!"  Love my kind-hearted boy!

After mass, we headed to Paul's Aunt Laurie and Uncle Scott's house for brunch.  Owen had a great time playing with his 2nd cousin Emily.

Checking out all of their loot!  These two made out like bandits!
Showing cousin Chrissy his bubble guns
Great Grandma Flossie (90) and Owen (3) The funny thing is that she was all smiles and so happy to be having her picture taken with Owen and he was crying because he wanted to go play and I was asking him to sit still for a picture.  Funny how that is not at all how this looks!

After stopping home for a nap, we met up with Nana and Papa for dinner. Eating cheeseburgers and fruit is hard work!
Look at this cute little bunny!
Looks like Papa was the only one to say Cheese!
 Happy Easter everyone!

We Are Walking for Babies!

Owen, Paul and I are Marching for Babies on April 28. I never knew what March of Dimes was until I had to give birth to Owen at 29 weeks via emergency C-section.  One of the scariest parts of Owen's early arrival was when a neonatologist came into our room to tell us that our baby may very well be deaf, blind, have cerbral palsy and could even die because he was coming too early and his body wasn't prepared to live outside of me. We were blessed that Owen had none of these things!  Thankfully, all of the research that March of Dimes has done allowed the St. Paul Children's NICU to care for Owen and send us home with a healthy baby.  Not everyone is that lucky though.  The team we are on for the March for Babies is called Go Lily.  Lily is the angel baby of some friends of ours. She was born at 27 weeks on December 8 and lived until December 25.  They have made it their mission to raise funding for the March of Dimes so that no other family has to go through what they did.

If you are able to, please click on the link below and help us raise money so that all families can be as lucky as we were, and get to bring their babies home!

Tumbling and Easter Cupcakes

Last night was Owen's tumbling class.  It is 35 minutes long and isn't really much of a "class" per se, but he still has a lot of fun.

Stretching with Coach Megan and Coach Brittany

Following the leader with Coach Megan
 Log rolls
Balancing bean bags on their heads
Coach Brittany asked the kids to come sit in a circle....it looked like a line, but at least they sat down!
Potty training at our house has been a long and painful process.  We started before Owen was 2.5 and he is still not potty trained.  He pees about the size of a quarter in his pants pretty much every time, then says he has to go.  Once a week maybe, he stays dry all day.  He has pooping down pat, which is normally the hard part for kids.  So because of that and the fact that he does tell us, we don't want to start using Pull-ups out of fear that he'll revert all the way back to just going in his pants all the time.  He has special undies in his drawer that he can wear after he stays dry for 5 days in a row, we have a bike in mind that he gets to go buy if he stops peeing in his pants, he gets to pick a treat out of Heidi's treat basket each day that he is dry....but nothing seems to do it.  For the last few days, I have had an Easter cake mix, frosting and sprinkles sitting on the counter for us to make on a day that he stays dry.  Finally yesterday, he stayed dry.  We had a tight schedule with tumbling class, so we quick baked them before class and then decorated them when we got home.  He had a blast....but not enough of one to stay dry today so he could eat one. :(

Mama, I Hear Your Heart Beeping!

Lately Owen has been saying such funny things.  I always think, "I have to remember that so I can write a blog with all of the funny things he says."  Then I go to do it and can't remember what he said.  :(

This weekend we had our monthly daycare date night.  I told Owen that he was going to go to Ronda's to play with Liam, Logan (9 months) and Sully.  His response was, "Logan can't play Mom!  He's a baby and he has baby hands, not people hands!"

He's been obsessed with Christmas lately.  He always wants to watch Christmas movies and listen to Christmas music.  At Ronda's, Sully's dad asked him how his week was.  He said, "Fine Justin, but I'm waiting for Christmas to come!"  Ronda and Justin about died laughing.

He loves to play doctor lately and tonight I was very ill apparently.  (He told me that I had a fever all the way home from Heidi's.)  Dr. O put me to bed (on the couch) and set out to make me feel better.  He had two stethoscopes around his neck and said, "Mama!  I hear your heart beeping!"

Over the past few weeks, O has added, "In the whole world" after quite a few things....he's my favorite digger in the whole world, I love this in the whole world, Mr. Bear is my friend in the whole world, I like chicken in the whole world.  He doesn't always get the wording right, but it is so stinkin' cute!

Paul and I must say, "We are getting tired of...." because lately he has been saying that things are making him tired or sleepy.  Again, not in the right context usually, but he's trying to tell us that he's tired of something.

Friends, Fun and Kool-Aid Eggs

This weekend was jam-packed with fun!  Saturday morning, we met our friends Ben & Norah and their mom Jen at the Giggle Factory in Hudson.  The kids had a blast playing and having lunch together!

Playing in the toddler area
I'll race you Benny!
That was FUN!
Taking a break with Norah

After nap, our friends Jen and Eric and their girls, (Owen's future wife and sister-in-law), Lucy and Piper came to play. After dinner, we enjoyed some yummy ice cream cones!
All ready to color some Easter eggs this morning before church
We used Kool-Aid to dye the eggs and Owen kept smelling it saying, "Mmmm, smells like lemons!"
He was so frustrated that the white crayon didn't work on the eggs....and was so excited when the first one we colored on came out of the dye!
I think we'll skip the Grape Kool-Aid next year!

Here Comes Peter Cottontail...

Tonight we went to an Easter egg hunt sponsored by the City of Woodbury.
Look at all those eggs!  Both sides of the path were filled with eggs!
After we arrived and found out that 3 year olds had to hunt for green and red eggs, we had to wait patiently for the lady to say, "GO!"
 Waiting is really hard!
 5-4-3-2-1-GO!

 Here's one Mom!
Showing Daddy how to hunt for eggs

Going through the eggs when we were done.  O said, "Mom, look how red this ring is!  I really love it!"

I am always looking for fun things that our family can do together that will make memories for Owen.  It made my heart happy when before bed he said, "Mom, that egg hunt was SO fun!  Can we do it again next time?"
