Owen came home a few weeks ago with an invitation to a VIP Breakfast. He was so excited about having us come to Heidi's for breakfast with him. He got to help Heidi bake some bread the day before. He told me, "Mom! I got to put the flour in - but not the kind from the yard." Heidi prepared an amazing spread, gave us a special certificate for being special parents, and Owen drew a picture of our family. She even helped him to write reasons why we are special to him. Having a delicious breakfast with my two favorite guys - what better way to start the day!

Allergies and The Coin Carnival
Over the past two weeks, Owen has been coughing at nap and at night. The rest of the day, he is absolutely fine - no congestion, no runny nose, no fever, no coughing. The second he lays down, he starts and literally doesn't stop until he gets up. We've tried all of the usual things to control the cough, but nothing is working and no one is getting any sleep.
I had the day off with him on Friday, so I took him to his pediatrician before we headed off to the coin carnival. The pediatrician said that all looked perfect and that he more than likely has allergies and or athsma. She put him on Claritan for two weeks to see if it will help. Thankfully, she doesn't want to rush into an allergy test. They are miserable! We weren't surprised since I had allergies as a kid, Paul has them as an adult...heck, even our dog Pooh had them and we had to give him allergy shots!
Last night he didn't cough at all and he's only coughed a handful of time so far today during nap. Hopefully he will continue getting some relief.
After the doctor, we went to the 2013 Woodbury Coin Carnival. It's a cute little carnival put on by the park and rec department. Owen had a blast playing games, winning prizes and I enjoyed getting to see the puppet wagon with him. He goes with his friends from daycare to see the puppet wagon every week, so it was fun to be able to experience it with him. It's "his" thing, so he told me all about the puppets, the truck that pulls the puppet wagon, etc.

A cute one I thought I'd throw in - this is their favorite part of swimming lessons!

Why is it that summer weekends go by way too fast? This was the first weekend in a really long time that we spent on something other than working on the deck. Friday night, Ronda asked if the boys could come over for a pool party, so Paul and I had an impromptu date night. We got take out from our favorite Chinese food restaurant, enjoyed a cocktail and watched a movie - that didn't have a curious monkey, a talking race car or a space ranger as the main character. Saturday was a great day too! We started off with karate, then went to a new restaurant in Woodbury to enjoy breakfast with Liam and his family. From there, we spent some time at the splash park. Everyone had fun! Later that evening, we took our first trip of the season to Nelson's Ice Cream. The line was long, but the ice cream was delicious and worth the wait. Today after church, it was raining, so we decided to try taking Owen to a movie. Last time didn't go well, so we weren't sure how it would go. He did really well and we all enjoyed ourselves.
Does this picture scream, "I'm up to no good?"
They are such good buddies! They shared their food, giggled and had so much fun together.
Off to the splash park
Even "baby Logie" had fun!
K.C. brought out buckets and they had a blast trying to fill them

Summer Fun
We've had a lot of summer fun these last few weekends. We even FINALLY finished the deck! The landscapers are coming tomorrow to do some work and then we'll be able to enjoy the yard instead of constantly updating our list of what needs to be done yet. Thank goodness!
Owen got enough smiley faces on his potty training chart to get his bike!
Daddy and Owen working in riding a BIG bike!
Both boys with wrenches in their hands
Enjoying the play set while Daddy worked on the deck
He was dancing because he was excited to get to drive his truck from Uncle Bob and Auntie Dawn
Fun at Lucy and Piper's 2nd birthday party
Relaxing with his feet up
Meeting a new friend Dalton (while being eaten by a shark!)
Are these two cute or what?!?

If you gIve A Mouse A Cookie
Tonight was such a fun night! We went to the Children's Theater to see If you give A Mouse A Cookie with our former daycare crew. We were in the 3rd row, so the boys had a great view of the boy and the mouse and got to witness all of their shenanigans up close. Owen belly laughed through the whole first half, then had to lean back against Daddy's chest to rest for awhile during the second act. He still smiled from ear to ear and then came the belly laughs again. Even the grown-ups had a blast, it was that good! Then we headed out for pizza after. While Ronda and the moms chatted, Terry, the boys and the Daddies played the crane game to win treats. We are so lucky to have Ronda & Terry, the Borns and the McDonalds in our lives!
Such a handsome bunch
Owen excited for the show to start
Liam and Owen posing by the stage after the mouse made a HUGE mess!
Getting to meet the mouse (minus his mouse hat) after the show
He even got their autographs!
